Album Review:
Carry On is Chris Cornell's first release since the dissolution of Audioslave. On this album Cornell takes his famous voice down some interesting new paths.
Many of this album's songs possess a vein of neo-southern rock, which might best be heard on the track Safe and Sound. The songs are more melodic, and laid-back when compared with his previous body of work. The shift in bearing can be somewhat surprising at times, especially during a dawdling rendition of Billie Jean.
This is a solid effort, but may not be considered his best. Don't get me wrong... this is a very good album. It's just not the ground-breaking offering that we've come to expect from Cornell over the years. He's spoiled us.
