Album Review:
Haste the Day's first release with new lead vocalist Stephen Keech proves to be their most mature effort to date. The new singer's effect on the band's sound is immediately apparent on the album's title track, Pressure the Hinges. The vocal performance on this album is one of its strengths.
The song structure is more sophisticated than on previous albums, due in part to an improved balance in the interplay between melodic harmonies and guttural screams. However, with the exceptions of Janet's Planet and Chorus of Angels, most of the tracks on the album tend to sound too similar. I would have liked to hear more variation… more distinction between the songs.
As a whole this is a solid effort, and if you're a fan of Haste the Day, you will love this album.
