Album Review:

Midnight to Twelve's self titled album is a solid effort from beginning to end. Since it has no real areas of fault, the decision on whether or not one will like it a simple matter of taste. For my tastes, it's really an enjoyable album to listen to.

The production of the album is masterfully handled by Sylvia Massey. Massey has a great track record of brining out the best sounds of artists she works with. The result is some of the best produced material I've heard this year.

Midnight to Twelve's sound is very reminiscent of other alt. rock acts on the scene. They remind me of 3 Doors Down and Lifehouse in particular, but with more spark and energy. Vocalist Jon Hartman has a strong and distinct voice that carries well over the recording and doesn't get buried.

Musically the song writing and musicianship is tight. It's clear that these guys have worked hard together as a cohesive unit to put this material together. Bassist Al Baca mentioned to me that "everyone likes us better live than anything we've ever demoed or put out, and we want our record to be reflective of that." If that's accurate, I can't wait to see these guys play live, because this album is top notch.
