Album Review:

The Kin's album Rise and Fall is, at times, reminiscent of the music of Cold Play or Interpol with one striking difference; these guys can sing. The Koren brothers, Isaac and Thorry, have tremendous and dynamic vocal interplay between them, and that makes this album much more compelling.

The production on this album is very strong. The music is polished almost to the point of perfection. Strangely, the vocal mix could have been stronger in a few spots to take greater advantage of the Koren brother's enormous prowess in that area, but this does not detract from the overall sound.

Rise and Fall also has some great songwriting. The acoustic number, "Abraham" is such a beautiful song and easily one of my favorites. As a whole, the album avoids many of the pitfalls that some other bands in the genre fall into. This effort rises above that, shines, and proves its worth for repeated listening.
