Far From Faking It

An Interview with Dale Stewart of Seether

Interview Date: January 23, 2008

Seether T3M: Are you guys on the road right now?

DS: We are, yeah. We're in Canada at the moment. Freezing cold.

T3M: What are you looking forward to about you upcoming tour with Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace and HURT?

DS: I think just seeing friends. We're friends with all those guys. We really got to know the HURT guys on the last tour. Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace... we've known those guys for years. We've done a bunch of shows together. We all had the same sort of climb... around the same time. There's a camaraderie. We get along real well. There's nothing better than touring with your friends. You get to watch the shows, hang out, mess around, or fool around onstage. They'll come up and do a song with us, or we'll sing a song with them. It's a fun thing.

T3M: Do you have a word of the day prepared for Josh (Ansley)?

DS: (laughs) I think Shaun probably has a couple. That whole word of the day thing... we'll have to put it into a poem or Haiku or something. I'm sure those are brewing up.

T3M: What has been your best experience with the band?

DS: There's a couple, and it changes all the time. One of mine is playing with Metallica in our hometown for fifty-thousand people. That one was definitely one of the favorites. Yeah, I'd say that Metallica show... it was the first time home in a while and I got to play with one of my all-time favorite bands.

T3M: Have you decided what the next single is going to be?

DS: Yeah, it's going to be "Rise Above This"

T3M: Will there be a video?

DS: We're finishing up this Canadian run with Three Days Grace. After that we're going to LA and we're going to shoot a video in February. We'll release it shortly after that.

T3M: What do you like to do in your off time when you're not touring or recording?

DS: I have got a couple motorcycles. That's sort of my passion. There's a canyon right behind my house. So I like to go canyon carving... canyon riding.

T3M: So you like the windy roads?

DS: Yeah, a nice windy road.

T3M: Have you managed to avoid any hefty traffic tickets?

DS: No. (laughs) I've had pretty bad luck, I'll be honest. I've already lost my license once, was going to lose it again, but my lawyer managed to get me to keep it. I've had a couple since then. I've had pretty bad luck with traffic tickets. A little while ago I woke up from a dream that I was getting a DUI. So now I dream about getting in trouble with traffic violations. I've had a pretty bad run, and my insurance is sky high.

T3M: Thanks do much for taking the time to speak with me today, and have a great tour.

DS: Thanks.
