HURT
with Tunnels to Holland
February 12, 2007
Indianapolis, IN
The Indy show was amazing!
I arrived at the venue early, said hi to everyone, and listened to sound check. There were some HURT fans already there, so I gave them a poster and some stickers. Even the parking attendant was excited as he showed me his two autographed drumsticks. Before the show, I went out for a bite to eat at a pub next to the venue with some friends. While we were sitting and talking, Paul Spatola and his wife came in… then J. Loren, and Evan Johns strolled in with some friends. We all had a great time hanging out together before the show.
After dinner, we all returned to the Vogue to see Tunnels to Holland’s performance. They had traveled all the way from New Jersey to play this show with HURT. They were really good… I look forward to seeing them again.
By the time HURT walk onstage, the place was packed! Everyone was
cheering. It seemed like they were playing all night… the music didn't
stop. During their set, Paul even played the keyboard, something I
hadn't seen before at the other shows I attended. Evan rocked out (as
he always does) and J. was feeling the energy of the audience. He
actually "walked" over the crowd… walking all the way to the back of
the venue while singing. Josh appeared to be feeling better. At the
Hartford, CT show, he was suffering from a nasty case of flu.
The crowd loved the performance. Everyone sang all the words to every song. I didn't see one person there who was not smiling. You could have "cut" through the energy, it was so strong.
After the show, I handed out more stickers to happy fans. The band was very gracious and signed autographs and memorabilia for everyone. Then we went over to the Alley Cat Lounge for a HURT after show party. The guys from Tunnels to Holland were there too. HURT could only stay for about an hour because they had to start their journey to Minneapolis.
It started snowing… everyone said their goodbyes. The "goodbye" was bittersweet for many of us, but we know that we'll see them again, so it's only goodbye for now.
