Seether

with Red

October 20, 2007

Lupo's

Providence, RI

Red was great. Put on one hell of a show to start things off. We spoke with them briefly after their set, and found them to be a bunch of cool guys.

It was a weird crowd tonight. There was an unbalanced mix of assholes, and those actually there to enjoy the music. The real fans would not be deterred.

Seether Seether was very good... a pleasant surprise. You could see that the guys were really into it the music, and putting a lot of energy into it. Shaun Morgan's performance was especially emotional and moving. Interestingly, the inlay on the neck of his guitar read "kill me now".

Technically it was also a good show. The sound at the venue was better than usual and the lighting was pretty good. Both are important and all-too-often neglected elements of a show, so this was a nice change of pace.

Not all the fans had their heads up their asses. There was one guy in particular toward the front of the crowd who really seemed into the performance all night. The band obviously noticed, because at the end of the set John Humphrey, the drummer, came right up to him and handed him a stick... a nice way of saying 'thanks' to a fan.
