Jonathan Davis

with Godhead

November 18, 2007

Lupo's

Providence, RI

Godhead's acoustic set opened the show. Their performance was only 30 minutes long, which seemed much too short. It was a great set which included a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". I was already familiar with some of Godhead's recordings, but really found this performance to be especially impressive.

I was briefly able speak with vocalist Jason Miller and bassist Ullrich Hepperlin after they finished. Ullrich told me that Lupo's is weird because the front of the house is all done up and modernized, but backstage it looks like it hasn't been remodeled since the 50's.

Jonathan Davis This was the perfect venue for Jonathan Davis to do an acoustic set. It was an awesome crowd and he appeared to relish the atmosphere. Davis sat on the stage throughout the performance, perched in a large throne and wearing a pin-striped suit. The band, especially Shenkar the violin player, really sounded great too. The set included songs from the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, and even cover songs, like Neil Diamond's "Love on the Rocks".

It was a very different experience seeing Jonathan Davis performing a stripped down set, as opposed to the massive production during the Family Values Tour. On this, his first solo-acoustic tour, he's proving that he can handle either situation with ease. Before I left, I realized I dropped my voice recorder near the stage. Luckily it was still there when I went back for it.
