Hellyeah

with Machine Head, and Nonpoint

February 6, 2008

There are some nights when everything from getting out the door to go to the show to the ride home is a struggle because nothing seems to go right. Then there's nights like tonight, when everything just falls right into place.

Nonpoint was intense. They were so much better than I remember from the Music as a Weapon tour last year. The crowd response tonight was awesome too. Their set was so good that the following bands would be hard pressed to keep up.

Helyeah Machine Head was up next. Holy crap! I can't help but compare this to a chain reaction; one explosive performance followed by another. The crowd loved Machine Head's relentless pounding and grinding brand of metal. I kept waiting for someone's head to explode in the crowd from the building pressure.

My words will not do Hellyeah's performance any justice. We saw them at Family Values last year, but this was so different. Their show was one of the best I've seen in a while. These guys are so good at what they do, that the music just oozes out of them and explodes like nitro. A brief tribute to Dimebag Darrell was very moving.

I've previously been to shows for all the bands performing tonight, so I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong. It was "on" tonight. All the bands... Nonpoint, Machine Head, and Hellyeah completely owned the stage. It was incredible.
